Unleash the Machine In you with the Tamora
May 13th, 2011TVR, a British based car manufacturer, has been making simple cars for many years. Known for their lack of driver aides, TVR has become a brand for true drivers. One of TVR’s many performance inspired machines is the Tamora.
The Tamora, introduced in 2002, is a two door convertible. It features the widely popular TVR Speed Six engine. The Speed Six is an inline six cylinder engine designed by Al Melling. Melling used elements of a motorcycle engine he previously designed to give the Speed Six a quick throttle response. The Tamora is very much a driver’s car.This/tag helps explain it more. With its familiar lack of driving aides, the driver can truly feel the road. With such feedback from the controls, the Tamora, like most TVRs, is very nimble. The Speed Six engine provides 350 horsepower, adding a perfect amount of power to the light and quick frame. It was fast, but not nearly as savage as other TVR models at the time and it truly made you feel like a Formula One driver. Being the entry model of the TVR line, the Tamora was more affordable to the driver on a budget. It had a modest interior and a large enough trunk to be usable.
There were some negatives to the Tamora though. Its styling was not appreciated at first, with many thinking the car was ugly. After time, many grew to accept the styling because of the pleasure that was derived from driving it. Also, the Speed Six engine needs sufficient time to warm up before being revved harshly.
The Tamora was an excellent car. It was produced from 2002 until 2006, which was about average for TVRs at the time. It lived on though in the T350 which was heavily based on the Tamora. It also spawned one of TVRs best cars the Sagaris. For an entry level sports car, the Tamora would really put you in the racing spirit.
